Why don’t you use a Fediverse service that allows more characters? You often post long messages, after all.

I run my own server through a managed hosting service, and the one I use only offers vanilla Mastodon which has the 500 character limit.

I know it can be done but I don't have access to the files, it's maintained by the managed hosting provider 🙂
